Winner of the 2009 Music Teachers National Association Texas Brass Competition, tubist Lee Jarzembak has competed as a semi finalist and finalist in international competitions for the past seven years. In addition to the Music Teachers National Association Competition, he has been invited as a semifinalist in the International Tuba Euphonium Conference Solo Tuba Competition, Orchestral Mock Audition Competition, Tuba Euphonium Quartet Competition, and was a member of the 2006 International Tuba Euphonium Conference All Star Ensemble. In 2010, he won the Texas Tech University Concerto Competition, and performed as a soloist with the TTU Symphony Orchestra. A year later, he was a soloist with the New Juilliard Ensemble.
Mr. Jarzembak started playing the tuba when he was a freshman in high school. His passion and hard work paid off when only a year later, he began winning at the state level in the University Interscholastic League State Solo and Ensemble Competitions, and at the regional and area levels in the Texas Music Educators Association All State Competition. A year later, Lee auditioned into the Texas Music Educators All State Band as a junior and senior in high school.
Upon graduating high school, Lee received the John Phillips Sousa Award, the Waxahachie Symphony Association Scholarship, and the Buddy Holly Scholarship. Lee received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance from Texas Tech University in 2010, a Master of Music degree from Juilliard, and is currently working on his Artist Diploma from the Curtis Institute. He has since performed with the Juilliard and Curtis Orchestras, and is a recipient of the Juilliard Alumni Scholarship.
